Who we are
Augustine Bookroom was started in Pretoria, South Africa in 2001, and operates from the premises of the Constantia Park Baptist Church with a mission to provide sound Christian literature at affordable prices. This work has been greatly blessed by God,has grown from strength to strength and has proven to be a great source of blessing to many. On a visit to South Africa in 2005 we were burdened by the need of something similar in the United Kingdom, and returned home determined to light a small fire, allowing God to bless it as He wills. This we decided to do using the growing power of the internet, and after many months of planning and preparation this website was launched.
It is our burning desire to see the lost saved through the redeeming work of Jesus Christ, the Son of God and only mediator between God and man, and we are firm believers in the doctrines of grace. To this end and with God's help, it is our hope that this online bookshop will be used of Him as a tool for taking the gospel to the very ends of the earth.
What we do
Augustine Bookroom in the UK is a family-run business, run by Keith & Sarah Holdt, with the eager assistance of their two children. The intention of this work is support not only pastors and church leaders, but Christians from all walks, backgrounds and ages with sound evangelical books and literature, in both paper and electronic form, that will help them grow spiritually, and in the words of Robert Murray McCheyne, help them to becoming as 'holy as a saved sinner could be'. While most of our customer come from the United Kingdom, we welcome orders from beyond these shores and look forward to the day when we are shipping pubilications to the four corners of the globe. It is our prayer that this work will continue to grow to the glory and honour of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Looking ahead
Our main focus for this year is to establish this as a viable work, and we firmly believe we can do this with the help of our many supporters. We will be looking to provide our customers with all the latest Christian books and literature, and for those who are regular users of our site, we will be looking to establish a reward scheme. Finally, we will be looking to establish a regular newsletter filled with all the latest information, news and happenings, such as book releases, promotions and the like. Included within this newsletter will be contributions from well-known Christian leaders from around the world, and we trust that it will be a source of blessing to many.
